Looks Like Mark Hamill May Have Landed A Role In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
One of the hardest jobs in Hollywood has to be casting, figuring out exactly who would be right for a given role, and then trying to lock that person down and get them to commit. Or you could just ask on Twitter. That's what may have just happened live on social media in front of the world as a fan asked writer/director James Gunn to cast Mark Hamill in a role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, for no other reason beyond the fact that it would be cool. Gunn seemed to think that, not only was this a good idea, but it would actually be fairly easy to consider, and Mark Hamill seems to be game.
Following Mark Hamill's statement that he would be interested, James Gunn simply says "let's do it." There's a bit of confusion regarding getting Hamill's contact information over to James Gunn because DM's are confusing, but it all appears to be on the level. Mark Hamill and James Gunn could actually be having a conversation right now about a potential role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. That sounds awesome. Thank god for social media.
Seeing Mark Hamill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would be fantastic. James Gunn has made room for cameos for everybody from Nathan Fillion and David Hasselhoff to Troma Entertainment's Lloyd Kaufman in the past, so I'm sure there are going to be roles available like that for Hamill. Of course, with the movie at least two years away, the film is probably in an early enough stage that perhaps Hamill could take a more significant part. Mark Hamill for Adam Warlock in the MCU? Regardless of the size of the part, it would be great to see Hamill in Guardians Vol. 3. I think Josh Gad probably put it best when responding to the initial Twitter thread.

Why James Wan Loves The Trench Creatures Of Aquaman
Aquaman was, for the most part, a pretty lighthearted superhero movie. The character of Arthur Curry is pretty laid back and he never lets much get to him. However, at one point, the movie's tone takes a serious shift when Aquaman and Mera end up going up against the creatures of the Trench.
From this point, for a few minutes, the film becomes something much more like a horror movie. Of course, when your director is James Wan, the brain behind the Conjuring franchise, you're in pretty good shape. Wan says he particularly loved the creatures of the trench because it let him go back to those horror roots. According to Wan...
I definitely love the trench creatures because it does allow me to hunt back to my horror roots and so I went all out and basically made those sequences just monster movies, like just sea creature monster movies.
James Wan maybe wasn't the most out of left field choice to direct Aquaman. He had done the seventh installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, and so doing a fairly traditional action movie wasn't an entirely new idea. However, Wan has always been more closely associated with the horror genre.
Back in 2004 he directed the first installment of the Saw franchise, where he has remained a producer ever since. After that, he developed The Conjuring, a franchise, which has spawned sequels and spin-offs of its own. Clearly, James Wan loves making horror movies, so it makes sense he would love the sequence in Aquaman that feels very much like something out of a horror movie.
The scene follows Arthur Curry and Mera as the take a boat out to open water, to the place where they believe the Trident of Atlan is being kept. However, that particular stretch of ocean belongs to one of the lost Kingdoms of Atlantis, one that has gone feral since the kingdoms fell apart.
The atmosphere is perfect for a horror movie. There's a storm going on. It's nearly pitch black, making it hard to see where the creatures are. First our heroes try to find shelter in the cabin of the boat, when that fails, they find themselves surrounded by monsters.
It's certainly an effective scene and while it's drastically different from anything else in Aquaman, it certainly works. Get a quick look at it, as well as hear James Wan's comments, in the exclusive clip from the Blu-ray extras of Aquaman, below.
Of course, James Wan clearly isn't the only person who loved the creatures of The Trench. The word is that a spin-off film is being developed that will focus on them, so there were apparently a lot of people at DC and Warner Bros. who loved that part of the movie.
Exactly what this new movie will actually be about is far from clear. Maybe it will be an origin story that explains how these Atlanteans became monsters, but it could just as easily be an actual horror movie, where the Trench creatures become the monsters that other characters are trying to escape from. Certainly, the stage has been set by one great horror director. maybe another could come in and make a superhero horror movie.

How Avengers: Infinity War Will Handle Hulks Romance With Black Widow
In Avengers: Age of Ultron, we saw a spark between Black Widow and Bruce Banner. Will we see that relationship finally become something more in the upcoming Infinity War? With so many things going on one wonders if a movie with so many characters will find time for these two to deal with their feelings. Our own Sean O'Connell asked Mark Ruffalo about his character's on-screen relationship when he visited the set of Avengers: Infinity War, and while Ruffalo was successfully vague in his answer, it does appear that these characters will be dealing with their feelings for each other for some time to come including in the upcoming film. Although, he also indicates things likely won't work out for them, regardless of whether or not they actually get together. According to Ruffalo...
They're star-crossed lovers, so it'll be something they're dealing with for the rest of their living days, I think. Whether it's requited or unrequited, I don't imagine that's gonna go away anytime soon, in one iteration or another.
Referring to the relationship between Black Widow and Bruce Banner as "star-crossed" is not a good sign, as that implies the relationship between the two is fated to fail. It's a somewhat understandable perspective. One of them is a trained assassin and the other turns into a big green monster every time his emotions get the better of him. Seeing such a relationship work out would be a long shot at best. However, Mark Ruffalo does imply that this is something the pair will be "dealing with" for a long time, so you can expect the item to at least be brought up during the events of Avengers: Infinity War. The first trailer did include a couple shots that implied the pair would share a longing look at each other, depending on the situation, there might not be time for much more than that.
Of course, Mark Ruffalo does also imply that the feelings could end up being "requited" at some point, which would indicate that the characters might be able to spend some time together, even if the relationship is ultimately doomed. That might be nice. The pair clearly has a lot of baggage to deal with, finding joy in each other for a little while would be a nice thing to have happen, they deserve to happy, right?
With Avengers: Infinity War barely over a month away a lot of storylines will likely be coming to a head. We don't really know what's in store for most of these characters, and the question of which ones will survive is still very much up in the air. If we lose one of these characters, then we can be fairly certain it will have a significant impact on the other as the MCU continues. We'll find out April 27.
